MADE WITH ALTITUDE - The Store Where Your Imagination Will Soar! http://madewithaltitude.com.au Recent blog posts from my shop. en-US It Takes A Village. It takes a village to build a community—or so they say.

I agree. To build a village takes more than the effort of a single person.

The full proverb, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’, whilst having its roots attributed to African culture, can actually be applied to many different situations.

Classroon Capers and the Single Most Important Lesson I learnt Outside of School. If you were asked to name the single most important thing you have learnt outside of a school room, what would it be?

It doesn’t have to be an all-encompassing, knock you off your feet lesson.

It just has to be something that was important enough to have made a difference.

So, what was it?

What was the single most important lesson you have learnt that didn’t come from a text book or teacher?

Was it a lesson on the importance of planning?

Or perhaps it might have been learning the art of compassion?

It could have even been something as silly as learning to put your dirty laundry in the basket instead of leaving it to lounge in luxury on the bathroom floor.

The beauty of learning is that a lesson can be almost anything.

Snakes and Ladders of Life When I was a kid I loved board games. As an adult, I still do.

One of my favourite games was Snakes and Ladders.

Anyone that is familiar with the game will know that it is all about reaching the top of the board before your opponent. Essentially it is all about climbing, moving up until you win.

I can’t remember when I first played the game. I was just a kid. All I can remember is how much I loved climbing those little ladders, the competition, and the feeling of being a winner.

I fancied myself as a bit of a snake charmer.

What I didn’t understand then is that it’s a game of luck, landing on the right squares at the right time. Therefore, apparently my perceived gaming prowess saw me a winner by chance.

After the first time I played, I wanted one of those games for myself. At-any-cost. I wanted to again feel like a winner.

Crafting Your Way To Colourful. What would you do if you woke up one random morning and all of a sudden you couldn’t see?

How do you think you would react if you opened your eyes and yesterday's colour had bled into your past, and all that was left was a tiny pin prick of light filtering through your eyes?

Well?

What would you do?

What would you think?

How would you react?

Would it be enough to send you into a cold sweat, setting off all the panic alarms? Or would you stay rationally calm?

I know what I would do. I know what I did.
